Independent advice. Experienced hands. No vendor bias.

You know your clinical vision. We translate it into the technical reality that makes it work.

Proteus Medical Technologies acts as your Retained Clinical Technology Adviser across the full lifecycle of your healthcare development. Our advice is structurally independent — we carry no commercial relationships with any equipment manufacturer, distributor, or service provider. No commissions. No rebates. No incentives to recommend one product over another.

What We Do

Medical Equipment Planning Before a single item is purchased, we develop a comprehensive equipment programme for your facility — room by room, department by department. Every item is specified with its power, gas, drainage, structural, and spatial requirements, fed directly to your architect and contractor. You receive a complete Bill of Quantities before you approach a single vendor.

Procurement Advisory We develop detailed functional and technical specifications for every equipment category before any vendor is approached. These specifications define exactly what is required — performance parameters, compliance standards, warranty terms, local service requirements, and consumable compatibility. We identify all credible suppliers, issue structured Request for Quotation documents simultaneously to selected vendors, evaluate submissions against an objective scoring matrix, attend commercial negotiations on your behalf, and review every purchase order before it is signed. The South African private hospital equipment market is heavily vendor-driven — independent technical oversight at procurement stage protects your investment and ensures you receive exactly what your clinical programme requires.

Commissioning and Acceptance We verify that every item delivered matches what was ordered, that installation meets manufacturer specification, and that equipment performs correctly before your contractor leaves site. Deficiencies found after handover are expensive and disruptive. We find them while someone is still contractually obligated to fix them.

Asset Management — Stat Trac CMMS We deploy our proprietary Computerised Maintenance Management System at handover — fully populated with your asset register, warranty schedules, and preventive maintenance programme. Your facility opens with a live, structured asset management platform from day one — not an empty spreadsheet.

Ongoing Retained Advisory Post-opening, we remain available as your designated technical adviser on a structured monthly retainer. Vendor disputes, equipment failures, replacement decisions, Department of Health inspections, COHSASA accreditation — you have an experienced, independent technical resource on call without the overhead of a full-time biomedical department.

Clinical Systems Advisory Healthcare facilities run on technology beyond clinical equipment — Hospital Information Systems, electronic medical records, radiology and laboratory information systems, pharmacy management, building management, and nurse call systems. We advise on system selection, specification, and integration. Our in-house software development capability means we can bridge gaps that off-the-shelf solutions leave open.

3D Printing and Product Design Where standard solutions do not exist — custom equipment mounting, bespoke clinical aids, replacement components — our in-house 3D printing and product design capability provides a practical, fast alternative to long lead times and expensive imports.

Who We Work With

Private doctor groups developing new hospital facilities. Specialist clinics expanding their infrastructure. Healthcare investors requiring independent technical due diligence on equipment assets. Facilities needing structured asset management for the first time.

Our Position

The South African private healthcare equipment market is heavily vendor-driven. Most advice available to hospital developers comes from people with a financial interest in what you buy. Proteus operates on a single commercial principle — our obligation is to our client, not to any supplier. That independence is not a marketing claim. It is written into every service agreement we sign.
