← Back to home Stat Trac Technical — installation guide
Install the app, sign in, and complete the first sync. It takes about five minutes.

Before you start: you need an Android phone and three details from the office — your company name, your username and your password.
You need
- Android phone
- Android 9 or newer. The app is made for phones, not tablets. iPhone is not supported.
- Google account
- Signed in to the Play Store on the phone.
- Company
- Short name of your company, e.g. demo. The office gives you this.
- Username and password
- Your Stat Trac login. The office must also switch on app access for your login.
- Internet connection
- Wi-Fi or mobile data for the install, the first sign-in and the first sync. After that the app works offline.
Install from Google Play
The app is called Stat Trac Technical, published by Proteus Medical Technologies. Open it on Google Play (opens in a new tab).
- Open the Play Store on your phone.
- Search for Stat Trac Technical.
- Check the publisher is Proteus Medical Technologies, then tap Install.
- When it finishes, tap Open, or find the “ST” icon on your home screen.
Testing phase only: until Google approves the public release, the app does not appear in search. The office adds your Google account email as a tester and sends you a link. Open the link on your phone, tap Become a tester, then Download it on Google Play and continue from step 3.
First sign-in
The sign-in screen asks for your company once; after that only your username and password.
- Company — type the short company name the office gave you, e.g. demo. This is not a database name.
- Username — your Stat Trac username.
- Password — tap the eye icon to check what you typed.
- Tap Sign in. The dashboard opens when it succeeds.
The app remembers the company. It asks again only if you tap Sign out on the dashboard.
First sync and permissions
Stay connected until the first sync finishes — it downloads the equipment, templates and certificates you need to work offline.
- The sync starts by itself after you sign in. A progress circle shows at the top right of the dashboard.
- When it finishes you see a green tick with the date and time, e.g. “Last synced 30 Sep 14:05”.
- A red error icon means the sync failed. Tap the sync icon to see why and retry.
The app asks for one permission: Camera, the first time you scan an equipment barcode. Tap Allow. If you refused by mistake, open the phone’s Settings → Apps → Stat Trac Technical → Permissions → Camera and allow it.
Keeping the app up to date
Let Google Play update the app automatically, and sync before you update.
- To turn on auto-update: open the app’s page in the Play Store, tap the three dots (⋮) at the top right, and tick Enable auto update.
- To update by hand: Play Store → your profile picture → Manage apps & device → Update all.
- Do not uninstall the app to fix a problem while certificates are waiting to send. Uninstalling deletes anything not yet uploaded.
Troubleshooting
Most sign-in problems are a wrong company name or a login without app access.
- App not found in the Play Store
- During testing, open the tester link from the office first. Check the phone runs Android 9 or newer.
- “Company not recognised”
- The company name is wrong. Check the spelling with the office, e.g. demo.
- “Invalid username or password”
- Check your details. Passwords are case-sensitive.
- Sign-in refused after a correct password
- Your login may not have app access yet. Ask the office to switch it on.
- “Cannot reach the server” or “The server timed out”
- Check Wi-Fi or mobile data, then try again.
- “The server had a problem”
- Wait a few minutes and try again. If it continues, tell the office.
- Wrong company saved
- Tap Sign out on the dashboard; the Company field appears again.
- “No connection — N still queued”
- Normal when offline. Your work is saved and sends when signal returns.
Getting help
Contact the Proteus Medical Technologies office — sales@proteusmedical.co.za. Tell them your username, your company name, and the exact message on screen — a screenshot is best. Never send your password.
